What inspired Banana Bash, Brian?
Single-screen classics like Pang (I worked on the Game Boy version!), Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, Liquid Kids and Snow Bros. We needed a side-view perspective with gravity, so a monkey was the perfect character. I also drew inspiration from Japanese legend Saru Kani Gassen (The Battle Of The Monkey And The Crab), about a greedy monkey who refuses to share fruit. This shaped the setting and fruit mechanic.
