“As you wish…” Remembering the man behind the Star Wars legend
LUCASFILM/ALAMY, BBC
WITH MINIMAL SCREEN time but infinite screen presence, Boba Fett became an enduring icon of Star Wars. All gunslinger poise and faceless menace, he’s the most enigmatic and incontestably the coolest of the bounty hunters who were recruited in The Empire Strikes Back.
Inside the battle-pitted Mandalorian armour was Leicestershire-born Jeremy Bulloch. Acting from the age of 10, he went from uncredited schoolboy in Carry On Teacher (1958) to one of Cliff Richard’s gallivanting pals in Summer Holiday (1963). He made two appearances in Doctor Who, playing Tor in 1965’s “The Space Museum” and Hal the archer in 1974’s “The Time Warrior”, whose bowmanship put paid to the Sontaran villain, Linx.
