EPISODES 1.01-1.10 Adapting The Sandman for the big screen was never really a viable option. Neil Gaiman’s comics masterpiece is a panoply of tales within tales anchored by a protagonist who doesn’t always bother to turn up in any given issue. You simply can’t do it justice in a two-hour movie.
And so to Netflix’s muchanticipated, often deeply peculiar TV adaptation. With Gaiman’s direct involvement and the time and freedom afforded by streaming, it’s clear that this show has been made with a real love for the original material and a desire to fit everything in – for better and for worse.
