WHY KEEPERS ARE THE BEATING HEART OF OUR SPORT
Where would we be without gamekeepers? Walking around fields desperately shooting at long-range pigeons and wary rabbits, probably. It’s not really up for debate that keepers are at the beating heart of our sport, and their work is not only essential to shooting but their commitment makes it what it is. Yes, every shoot day is a team effort and without paying guns (or paid-for guests), beaters, pickers-up and others in the background we wouldn’t have any shooting. But without keepers there would be no birds and nobody would even know where to meet in the morning, never mind where to go and stand for the first drive. So it’s only right that we dedicate this issue to thousands of keepers up and down the land.
