SWEET SWIRL
For her mother’s birthday, Elsharah Hebbard created something truly special – a yarn cake that looked just like her mother’s favourite Scheepjes whirl! “The ‘yarn’ was made by using a clay extruder tool to create thin strands of fondant, which were then twisted together and arranged in a spiral around the cake,” says Elsharah. “The hardest part was probably matching the colours to the whirl!”

Soft touch
Made from a mixture of cotton, viscose and linen, King Cole’s brand-new Linendale DK is an ideal yarn for creating tops, cardigans and jumpers with beautiful drape. The colour range is an Instagram-ready contemporary collection of ten pastel, neutral and deep tones. The shades all complement each other, which makes it easy to mix and match colour options in your chosen project. Choose from Storm, Mushroom, Fennel, Opal, Midnight, Cornflower, Damson, Mother of Pearl, Raspberry and White. Each 120m ball costs £2.85 to £3.39. You can wash garments made from this yarn at 30°C – you can even iron them – but avoid tumble drying for best results. Find the whole range at www.kingcole.com
