FEELING THE LOVE
With little splashes of colour against neutral backgronds, the new Love You yarn range from Stylecraft adds dimension to anything you stitch. The DK yarn is a cotton and acrylic blend that creates a speckled effect, and it looks lovely when used for garments and lacy makes. Each 100g ball costs £4.95 and contains 210m of yarn. The new line comes in six love-themed shades like Sweetheart and Adore, all at www. stylecraft-yarns.co.uk
CROCHET BY CHATGPT
This is a narwhal. No, really. When artist Alexandra Woolner asked AI chatbot ChatGPT to create a pattern for a narwhal, this was the result. “I’ve really enjoyed [ChatGPT] for the niche nonsense I’ve been using it to create,” says Alexandra, who has also used the AI to create patterns for a ‘normal fish’, a cat, a newt and more. She even attempted a second narwhal “to see if adding desired end measurements would produce a better pattern – it did not.” But there’s something hilarious and endearing about technology’s fumbling attempts to create a crochet pattern. “The wrongness of... my ‘cursed AI crochet monstrosities’ brings me great joy,” says Alexandra.
