STITCHED STRONG
After a devastating diagnosis, Sandra Torrance of Little Golden Nook discovered a passion for crochet design thanks to her family’s support, her faith and her own inner strength
Australian designer Sandra’s signature style features autumnal colours and textured bobbles
The world of Little Golden Nook feels idyllic, cosy and full of love. Children play outdoors in bobbly jumpers, squishy blankets and chunky jumpers hang in inviting neutral interiors and tanned, blonde-haired designer Sandra Torrance crochets with a smile on her face, wearing several of her own gorgeous creations. The beauty of Sandra’s world is real – she really has a loving family, a creatively inspiring home and a love of outdoor stitching – but it’s only part of her story.
Sandra has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or ME/CFS, which causes extreme tiredness and inflammation – and completely changed the direction of the former physical education teacher’s life. But thanks to the love of her family, her unwavering Christian faith and her own strength and optimism, Sandra found happiness by focusing not on what she can’t do but on what she can – and one of the things she can do, and do very well, is crochet.
