TENSION
2.5 shells and 8 rows to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over pattern after blocking using 4.25mm hook, or size needed to obtain correct tension

5tr in st indicated half shell st 3tr in st indicated mattress stitch With RS facing, leaving a tail to weave in, use a threaded darning needle to pick up the bar that runs horizontally between the first and second sts on one of the pieces you wish to join. Pick up the corresponding bar on the other piece. Continue, picking up the next bar up on the first side and going in where the yarn comes out from the last step, then crossing to the second side, picking up the next bar. Keep going, working back and forth, threading the yarn back and forth under every bar. Every few rows, pull the yarn tight to bring the edges together
