Steam Days  |  May-26
Talyllyn Railway, founded in 1865, became the world’s first preserved railway in May 1951, launching the global preservation movement. Rescued by volunteers after quarry closure, it survived through determination, new locomotives and community effort. This issue also explores repeated accidents on the Alnwick lines and Castlethorpe station’s modernisation, protests and eventual closure in the 1960s.
