Asus is first out of the gate with an RTX 4090 laptop, but cutting-edge GPUs don’t come cheap. Is there enough here to justify the big bucks?

A sizzling-hot Nvidia graphics card isn’t the only bit of exciting hardware inside the 2023 ROG Zephyrus M16. You’ll also find a top-notch Intel processor, and a display that promises an HDR viewing experience close to that of a big-screen OLED telly. But then you’d hope as much, given this laptop will set you back more than £4000.
The latter uses Mini LED tech with over 1000 dimming zones, which helps with brightness, bounce and dynamism. Colours aren’t accurate enough for pro creative work but they’re great for gaming, and the panel can hit a 240Hz refresh rate. We doubt there’s a more well-rounded gaming laptop display.
