THE BASICS
■ Shop around Google might argue that its AI can sort a hugely complex itinerary in a nanosecond. Honestly, we still prefer a travel agent. But for simpler trips, the internet can do it all. Skyscanner finds flight deals that might save you a fortune; Booking and Kayak are great for hotels and car hire.
■ Make lists Ever arrived at your hotel without your charging cable? Or your pants? Lists are the way. But instead of paper, use a to-do app where you can check things off and later reset the list to use it again. Look out for apps that let you share lists and delegate tasks… and thereby have someone to blame if you arrive sans cable. Or pants.
