Gris
Does this indie puzzle platformer’s gameplay match its breathtaking style?
You know that persisting debate about whether or not video games can be considered art? Well, pull out your Nintendo Switch and show the naysayers Gris. Put simply, this is one of the most beautiful games ever made.
During its run time of 3 to 4hrs you’ll visit storm-battered desert ruins immediately reminiscent of Journey, plus overgrown forests and underwater temples where fluorescent vegetation contrasts magnificently with the otherwise pitch-black surroundings. The camera will often zoom out to reveal the entire panorama of whichever section you’re playing; and while this can make your character difficult to see on the Switch’s diddy display, it gives you a real appreciation of Gris’s awe-inspiring artistic flair. It’s truly stunning to behold.
