DAY 01
I knew Google had stepped things up on the design front, but seeing the Pixel 9a for the first time in person is still an eye-opener. This might be the firm’s new affordable model, but it looks and feels very grown-up.
The curved back and camera bar of the 8a are gone, replaced with clean lines and a svelte silhouette. OK, the streamlined camera bump – if you can even call it a bump, as it sits a mere millimetre up – looks more generic, but I can’t deny it slips into my pocket that much more easily. The metal frame also brings a more high-end feel. The back panel is recycled plastic, but with a smooth look that hides fingerprints well – and plenty of grip.
