TV wonder
Can the latest Philips OLED really offer high-end design and picture quality for less than £1000?
from £989 / stuff.tv/OLED754
Want a super-sleek, super-slim OLED television without the super-spend? It’s not impossible, but generally it means making one or two super-sacrifices. You’ll be buying into a brand with limited credibility, and buying a TV with limited performance. Or, at least, that’s how it used to be. You can now buy a 55in OLED from Philips’ 2020 range, with few limitations, for under a grand.
The 754 has plenty of screen, next to no bezel and a pair of dinky chrome feet, one of which is home to the only branding on the entire TV. The clean simplicity of smart design is in evidence everywhere. Even the rear of the chassis is made of lightly brushed metal, except where it swells out to accommodate the inputs.
