Ubisoft’s cyber-stealth action series swaps a single protagonist for a city full of potential heroes… with strangely characterless results

I n marketing the latest game in its hack-happy open-world franchise, Ubisoft got lots of mileage out of the Taser-wielding grandma pictured above. While this ageing assassin was never positioned as a main protagonist, her ability to eliminate bad guys in brutal fashion made her emblematic of the game’s cheeky humour and play-as-anyone focus. But while the final product does deliver on these elements, it falls short of making them as much fun as they originally seemed.
