Britain needs a tech show revival
Jon Bentley harks back to his good old days with the Gadget Show Live and believes the time is right for something similar
Coverage of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las C Vegas, one of the world’s biggest technology events that’s a regular January highlight, reminded me just how much I adore tech shows. They’re great places to get hands-on with the latest products and see, hear and feel what they can do, while meeting fellow enthusiasts.
It may be fashionable in some circles to knock these sorts of shows. Instead of buying stands to peddle their wares, critics suggest companies would be better off marketing directly to their most valuable customers, or setting up their own dedicated events like Apple and Google, rather than getting lost in the CES maelstrom. But I think that’s far too negative.
