The two models of LG Gram Pro AI will suit different markets, we’d argue. The larger totes a gamer-friendly 17in LCD panel in a form factor which LG says feels more like a 16in; the smaller packs in a 16in OLED – well-suited to creative types who appreciate colour over refresh rate.

Every time LG unleashes another Gram we bring up comparisons to the MacBook Air. Rightly so, because the same list of adjectives applies to both: small, sleek, powerful, light, you know the drill. This year’s Gram doesn’t buck its ancestors’ trend, and it fits nicely into the same well-worn niche, but we’ve come around to the idea that this isn’t actually an Apple competitor – it’s an everyone else competitor.

The point being that a MacBook does MacBook things. If you want or need a MacBook, there’s not much LG will be able to do to convince you over to the Windows side. But if you’re a PC type, if you’re looking to run games as well as work and want a spectacular laptop that’s ready for anything, the 2026 Gram Pro AI won’t be far from the top of your list.

We’re not even too put off by the built-in AI gimmicks, comprising Microsoft’s usual Copilot cloud AI and LG’s own on-device chat assistant powered by the EXAONE 3.5 sLLM chip. They might even be useful for the right person. But given that everyone else is also doing it, LG has to stand out by dint of its design, its screen, and its portability. It’s hard to argue, even at this early stage, that it hasn’t done enough to make the Gram Pro AI one of the most exciting laptops of the year.
