DRAGONDAZE
Interview by Matt Jarvis
How has Dragondaze changed since it started back in 1984?
Dragondaze was begun as part of a week of youth activities organised by the People and Work Unit. YouthSpeak brought together young people from all over the county of Gwent and threw them into many different activities and challenges. The event went so well it was decided by the original organisers to run it every year on and off until 1991. The first ‘new’ Dragondaze, which ran in 2014, was 30 years on from the original event.
The first Dragondaze was in a small church hall, probably about 75 square metres. We have 2,500 square metres at the new venue of Newport Centre.
