I’ve been based in Snowdonia, North Wales, for 18 months. I moved here from Wiltshire, where I had a violin shop for more than 20 years. My father was born around 15 miles away from here, so I thought it might be good to get back to my roots. Snowdonia is quite sparsely populated but it’s very musical; there’s the New Sinfonia youth orchestra of North Wales, plus a lot of folk and independent musicians who play in bands across the area. And there are very few luthiers here, which means plenty of work!
