This year’s touch footy Battle of the Islands (BOTI) has been played
out over an action-packed few days with a mix of raw and experienced
talent battling it out on Waiben’s Ken Brown Oval under very hot and windy conditions.
Age Discrimination Commissioner Robert Fitzgerald has welcomed
the release of a National Plan to End the Abuse and Mistreatment of
Older People 2026–2036, describing it as a decisive step toward
ending the abuse and mistreatment of older Australians.
A Thursday Island/NPA side made its debut in the prestigious Foley Shield carnival at Cairns in nominating style, taking out the Remote Area division and scoring 50 points a game in their two wins.
