EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE!
Words Paul Elliott Photo Fin Costello/Redferns
There were many classic albums reissued this year: Lou Reed’s New York, full of brilliant guitar interplay from Lou and Mike Rathke; The Rolling Stones’ Goats Head Soup, with the previously unreleased track Scarlet featuring Jimmy Page; and a Dire Straits box set including all of the band’s studio albums, with Mark Knopfler at his early peak. But for Total Guitar, the best of the bunch, and certainly the rowdiest, was Motörhead’s Ace Of Spades.
