ROBIN Pecknold confessed to a case of nerves when kicking off his first ever solo tour in Woodstock’s Levon Helm Studios. This rustic barn – where Helm held court in his final years, hosting shows with many great musicians – is full of history, so it was fitting that Pecknold packed his set with covers: Judee Sill’s “The Kiss” and “Lopin’ Along Thru The Cosmos”, Joni Mitchell’s “Amelia” and “The Silky Veils of Ardor” (marvelling aloud at Mitchell’s “wild” chords and tunings), as well as “Morning of My Life” (aka “In The Morning”), an early Bee Gees nugget Pecknold has made his own in recent years.
