THE Cure are touring their new album, with one significant caveat: the record isn’t out yet. The ongoing will-he-won’t-he saga over Songs Of A Lost World, which Robert Smith has been promising since 2019, makes more sense by the end of a monumental show. Judging by the five tracks played tonight, it’s the most personal and emotionally draining music of Smith’s career. You can understand why he wants to get the songs just so before subjecting them to critical scrutiny.
