JOHN & YOKO IN IRELAND
What a wonderful spread on John Lennon and the expansive reissue of his Mind Games album in August Uncut [Take 328]. Although the writing was spot on, what I found astonishing was the photos on show. Most, if not all, I had never seen before and this has prompted me to send you a photo that you will not have seen before either.
This photo clearly shows John, Yoko Ono, a man to the right of John that I recognise but fail to name, and a little blonde girl. This girl’s name is Eileen O’Sullivan. The photo was taken in County Mayo by her father around 1967 when John was either buying or had recently bought Dorinish Island off its coast.
I went on to marry Eileen later in life but unfortunately she has now passed away. The framed photo takes pride of place on my kitchen table but I thought I’d share it with Uncut as a thank-you for your wonderful photos.
