A 19th century copper replica of the world’s largest coin – measuring 5in (13.5cm) and weighing 900gm – will be included in an auction of Coins, Tokens and Historical Medals at Dix Noonan Webb on February 21 in Mayfair, London.
Estimated at £3000-4000, the specimen is a 200-mohur cast copy of a lost original made for the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan I. It was discovered in Patna in the 18th century and was last seen in the 1840s. A similar copy is also in the British Museum.
