CAITLYN JENNER says her Olympic decathlon gold medal from 1976 currently sits in her nail drawer and has never been on display.
It is now 40 years since the world’s most famous transgender person took that title as Bruce Jenner and Sports Illustrated has focused on the ex-athlete and the medal in its latest issue – putting both on its front cover.
Yet in an in-depth interview, the US magazine reports that Jenner often dismisses her athletics achievements.
“Sports. It’s not real life,” she says. “You go out there, you work hard, you train your ass off, win the Games. I’m very proud of that part of my life. And it’s not like I just want to throw it out. It’s part of who I am. What I’m dealing with now, this is about who you are as a human being.
