CUBA’S 2008 Olympic discus silver medallist Yarelys Barrios has had her medal stripped from her and disqualified after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed she had tested positive retrospectively – she returned a positive sample containing acetazolamide – a diuretic and masking agent.
Following Russia’s Anastasiya Kapachinskaya’s positive test and removal of their 4x400m relay medal, team-mate Tatyana Firova was also disqualified after re-analysis detected a mix of banned substances.
Qatar sprinter Samuel Adelebari Francis was also disqualified from the 100m.
