RUSSIA’S only current Olympic-bound athlete Darya Klishina has hit back after corners of her country’s media branded her a traitor.
The IAAF Doping Review Board declared Klishina (pictured) eligible to compete after it agreed she meets the exceptional elibiglity criteria – largely due to her being based in the US – though it rejected 67 other individual applications.
TASS report the 25-year-old as saying in response to criticism after she agreed to compete under a neutral flag:
“I want to note that I didn’t begin training with a US coach in the United States a month before that situation emerged. After all, I have been there for already three years.
