HURDLES TALENT COULDN’T AFFORD TO BE AN ATHLETE

JUSTINE KINNEY was AW’s cover star on the front of an English Schools special 10 years ago that billed the ‘class of 2006’ as the potential Olympians of London 2012.

The 400m hurdler went on to become the first athlete to win a race in the Olympic Stadium when she took the BUCS title in May 2012.

But her competitive athletics career ended in the same year because, she says, she simply could not afford to be an athlete.
