SOUTH AFRICAN sprinter Carina Horn (pictured) was among those affected by problems as she tried to get to Newcastle from the previous night’s meeting in Brussels.
The lack of sleep and stress caused by a cancelled flight and hastily reorganised train trip did not seem to affect her though as she ran 11.20 to beat world indoor champion Barbara Pierre of the United States by 11 hundredths of a second, plus British duo Asha Philip and Jodie Williams.
