Andrew Salgado is a Canadian artist who’s lived in London for the past 10 years. He has blossomed from being a one-to-watch artist to become a powerful force in the art world, with solo shows in London, New York and Cape Town. His figurative paintings pop with colour, but when you peel away the layers there is often a dark connotation lurking beneath. He campaigns for the LGBT+ community through his art and donates to charities including the Terrence Higgins Trust and Stonewall. Here, he reflects on wisdom learned from his paint-splattered studio
