TIMBER FLOORING QUICK GUIDE
Wooden flooring can make a timeless statement, adding character, functionality and durability to your home, says Sander Tel
Timber is a popular option for new floors – after all, it’s stylish, cosy and sturdy. Your budget will dictate which type of wood and product you choose, but it’s also important to factor in how you’re going to use of the room. Timber flooring is mostly sold as either solid or engineered boards, but which is best for your project?
SOLID WOOD
As the name suggests, solid wood is pure timber manufactured into boards and it’s popular for its versatility across a range of interior schemes. Solid wood is sensitive to its environment, but it can be sanded down and refinished whenever it needs a refresh – so it’s great for high-traffic areas and will last well if kept clean, dustfree and its temperature regulated.
