The secret to getting the most from solar PV
Want to maximise returns from your array? Then it pays to design it in at the outset, says Oliver Farr
Many self builders and renovators want to futureproof their projects, so it’s no surprise that solar photovoltaic (PV) panels are a popular choice. The benefits of this technology are well-established: you’ll enjoy reduced energy costs; a 20-year taxfree income from the government via the Feed-In-Tariff; and a low carbon footprint. But it’s not as simple as just bolting a few panels onto your roof. If you want to maximise the potential of your solar array in the long-term, it’s best to design it in from the start.
