Classic Bus  |  Oct/Nov 2020 (169)
With a lot of interest shown in the little Albion Nimbus in recent issues, in this Classic Bus we have more from the Bus Archive on a Nimbus that was, then wasn’t any more - it’s all explained...
We’ve also had recent interest in various aspects about Southdown’s so-called Queen Mary double deckers. Peter Snowden looks at the variety of other Queen Mary-type bodies built by Northern Counties.
40 years ago heads were put together to make bus operation in and around Maidstone more efficient. Like Radio 4’s The Reunion, those involved recall what it was like. And with the Leyland National having first appeared 50 years ago this year, David Pike re-assesses the type and recalls what it was like to drive.
Michael Baker takes a sentimental journey to Merseyside to remember some of the buses he got to know well. It includes an off-the-wall (literally) reference to Dusty Springfield. John Sinclair treats us to some Scottish oddities, and Richard Wallace to a bit of mudguard malarky on East Kent’s Regent Vs.
We’re also sabre-rattling, AEC style, on a bicycle ride to see Bradford trolleybuses, and have a (Leyland) Comet tale to relate.
Then, of course, there’s our usual lively and well-illustrated Forum section with topics ranging far and wide, and an overview of new books of interest.
