Classic.Retro.Modern. Magazine  |  November 2022
The classic car industry is a broad church. One man’s masterpiece is another man’s oddball; one woman’s dream is another woman’s nightmare. It’s why we strive to deliver the most eclectic classic car magazine you can buy, championing the misunderstood as well as the heartland classics. We reckon 16 is one of the most eclectic issues to date.
Our cover car is the Mk2 Volkswagen Golf GTI 16v, widely acknowledged as one of the best hot hatches of the 1980s. We’ve also got not one, but three drive stories, which tell you what it’s like to be behind the wheel, while giving you a brief history lesson on what made the car great (or otherwise). The cars? Austin 3 Litre, Tatra T97 and Matra Murena. We told you it was an eclectic issue.
Elsewhere, Richard Heseltine hero worships the legendary Tony Pond, Richard Dredge tells you how to buy the right Fiat Barchetta, while Rich Duisberg introduces us to his Fiat 500 Abarthish. If that’s not all, Sam Glover takes us on another of his brilliant adventures, Gavin champions the Subaru B9 Tribeca, and Merc Carmode looks at The Yellow Rolls-Royce. Popcorn might be required.
Your Classics are a Ford Zephyr Mk2 Ute, Porsche 924, Range Rover P38 and Rover 75, while this month’s Six of the Best focuses on Triumph Spitfire specials. All of this, plus the Peugeot 307 CC, Ford Focus RS Mk1, TX Tripper and MGB Limited Edition. Not forgetting the usual period adverts, events update and the weird and wonderful we use to fill the Ignition section.
