Classic Retro Modern Magazine

6 issues per year   |  English

From $3.33 per issue
Classic.Retro.Modern. is the start of something special. A new monthly magazine focusing on established, emerging and modern classics. The cars of the 1960s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and ’00s might be familiar, but the stories we tell will be anything but. Classic.Retro.Modern. isn’t here to fit in.

Every month, our readers can expect superb writing, great photography, quality print, excellent design, and an ability to think differently. The cars will be accessible, attainable, and relevant. Our mix will be eclectic. Discover the joys of owning a Reliant Regal before turning over to read about why you should be considering a Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk 5. The Jaguar E-Type rubbing shoulders with the Vauxhall Calibra. The Mini 1275 GT sharing space with the Fiat Panda Mk1.

Classic.Retro.Modern. is fresh enough to appeal to young drivers taking their first tentative steps in the world of classic cars. Established to appeal to knowledgeable enthusiasts who have seen (and read) it all. The magazine will be as at home on a coffee table as it is at a local ‘cars and coffee’ event.

On-sale monthly, it’s packed with classic cars. Regulars such as buying guides, reader restorations and news will be accompanied by drive stories and features designed to excite, inform, and enthuse. Classic.Retro.Modern. will be printed on high-quality paper and filled with great photography and superb design.

The team has a long and successful track record, consisting of Ian Robertson as Publisher, Richard Dredge in as Editor and Gavin Braithwaite-Smith taking the role of Deputy Editor, alongside other well-respected contributors. And that’s all backed up by a group of incredibly talented classic car nuts that look after the design, website and behind the scenes, it’s very much a case that we’ve assembled our dream team.

Classic Retro Modern Magazine

November/December 2026 The clocks have gone back, but there’s something to look forward to: the new issue of Classic.Retro.Modern. magazine has just hit the shelves. If you’re a subscriber, it’ll be taking up valuable space on your doormat by now, assuming your postie is on the ball. Taking up valuable space on the cover is a very yellow AC 3000ME, which represents a dream come true for our resident youngtimer Ben Hooper. It’s Ben’s first cover feature – congratulations, Ben – and the 3000ME was the car he dreamed about as a kid, so the opportunity to drive Shaun Matthews’ pre-production Rooster Turbo conversion was too good to turn down. Needless to say, Ben’s desire to own one is now stronger than ever. With the nights drawing in and the weather becoming more unpredictable – have we moved on from Storm Austen and Boelo already? – few people will be thinking about buying a roadster. That hasn’t stopped us serving up a double helping of MX-5 goodness, courtesy of Antony Ingram. First, he explains why the first-generation MX-5 (NA) could change your life for the better, then drives Rocketeer’s V6 conversion, which might be one of our favourite restomods of the moment. Does Antony prefer it to an early, unmodified MX-5? Read his fine words to find out. If that’s not enough, our editor tells the story of a very personal restoration of a Jaguar E-type before attempting to explain why the AX deserves a place at the top table of Citroën’s greatest hits. We suspect he’d rather own an AX Spree than an E-type, but that’s just him. Elsewhere, Graham King picks six of the best Ford Escort derivatives, Dimitri Urbain lifts the lid on a pair of Citroën AX transformations, and Picture Past focuses on cars that had a tough act to follow. There’s also room for your usual favourites, including several postcards and a trio of Your Classics in the shape of a Fiberfab FT Bonito, a Škoda Estelle and an MG Midget. Our editor reveals a surprisingly clean MOT pass for his Fiat Coupé, too.

The Pocketmags app runs on all iPad and iPhone devices running iOS 15.6 or above, Android 8.0 or above, and Amazon Fire Tablets from 2018 onwards, though owners of earlier Fire models can check the Amazon Appstore directly on their device to confirm compatibility.

For iOS users, we recommend using a device capable of running the latest version of iOS for optimal performance and stability, as older hardware with lower processing power and RAM may experience slower page rendering or occasional stability issues due to device memory limitations. Alternatively, our web-reader works with any modern, HTML5-compatible browser, though we recommend Chrome or Firefox for the best experience on PC and Mac.

It's a work of art

Look forward to every issue. It's beautiful, finely crafted and I love the old adverts in between. I can't wait until every issue arrives. Reviewed 29 April 2022
