Christmas will soon be upon us, and for everyone in the UK dance world this can mean only two things – the start of The Nutcracker season and the climax of the latest series of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing competition!
In this month’s magazine, these important events are not forgotten. Vikki Jane Vile takes a look at the relationship between Strictly and its fans on social media, and we also discover the fitness routines of Strictly professionals Aliona Vilani and Kevin Clifton. On the ballet front, Zoë Anderson meets Northern Ballet’s Pippa Moore, who will be dancing with the company in the run-up to Christmas in The Nutcracker in Leeds, and from the world of musical theatre, Barbara Newman gives her verdict on the new West End production of Elf.
David Mead travels to New York to find out more about the School of American Ballet based at the Lincoln Center, and Laura Dodge goes to Epsom to pay a visit to Laine Theatre Arts, one of the UK’s leading musical theatre colleges.
In addition, we meet three promising young dancers – English National Ballet’s Isabelle Brouwers, and Glenn Richard Boyce and Alexandra Krivushkova, who were second in the junior finals of the 2015 International Championships in Brentwood.
As you can see, then, another packed issue, which leaves us with just enough space to wish all our readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Dancing Times

I think more contemporary dance reviews and dance artists from this discipline are missing. I love the magazine, it only seems to cover mainly ballet and ballroom. Reviewed 15 August 2020
