Drama and Theatre  |  Summer 2 20/21
Drama & Theatre Summer 2 is a feast for the eyes, with stunning production shots of HMDT Music’s new production Jina and the STEM Sisters, as we learn how the company has brought arts and STEM subjects together in a celebration of inspiring historical women in science. There’s also a mini puppetry theme in that we take a look at Little Angel Theatre on the occasion of their 60th anniversary.
In the Primary section of the magazine, it’s all about playwriting this issue: with a feature on David Wood, prolific and much-loved children’s playwright, and a focus on a playwriting project in Plymouth which encourages primary students to pen their own individual dramatic work. Meanwhile we also look at online theatre work made particularly for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities; and we touch on mental health for performers, with tips from Breathwork practitioner Georgi Mottram.
Big news this issue is the launch of the conference programme for this year’s Music & Drama Education Expo | London – longstanding readers of the magazine will be familiar with imaginary teacher Lucille’s walk-through of the show – and there’s the usual abundance of reviews, with detailed looks at more than ten new plays, plus books, webinars, online performances and teaching resources.
