Freshwater Fishing Australia Magazine

6 issues per year Write Review From $3.50 per issue Freshwater Fishing Australia magazine was first published over 24 years ago and is an institution for many of our country’s freshwater anglers. It is one of the longest running fishing magazines in the country. For two decades, the country’s leading fishing journalists have been providing the best information for our anglers. The quality of the publication has resulted in many local anglers retaining every copy of the magazine ever published. Freshwater Fishing continues to hold the trophy of the country’s most popular freshwater only publication.

Freshwater Fishing Australia  |  Jul-Aug 161

We are celebrating getting back out on the water with our Boating Special Edition of Freshwater Fishing!
#161 Jul/Aug contains everything new in boating, a boat directory with a few vintage photos included.
Old fishing boats and techniques, never fully disappear, but often morph to reflect modern ones, and so it is here we have re-published our favourites from the very early issues of Freshwater.
Colby Lesko explains how to tangle with the Murray rivers giant – the Murray cod. Leading into Winter there is no better time to target big rainbow trout and Andy McGovern outlines fundamental tips and techniques on how to lure that true trophy fish in both rivers and impoundments. Ben O’Brien fishes for Goldens during low water events and explains how he goes about it. Toby Grundy discusses a strategy to target large ‘following’ Murray cod. Marc Ainsworth explains what goes on behind the scenes, with the big effort underway to boost Murray cod broodfish numbers for Victoria’s new native fish hatchery at Arcadia near Shepparton.
Following on from part one in issue #160, Frank Prokop goes into the why, where and how of fishing New Zealand’s GIANT TROUT canals. Dallas D’Silva, Director Fisheries Management and Science VFA, looks back, so we can keep going forward - 20 years of Murray cod fishery management. Adam Royter follows on from his Lure Fishing Southern Rivers article in issue #160 with a fantastic piece on fishing lakes using soft baits and Trevor Hawkins lists a few basic knots for those getting into fly fishing.
We hope you enjoy this issue – and enjoy getting back out on the water and having a fish!
