Recently, this Vigoroot Easy Table Garden appeared in the KG offices and, as it was a nice sunny day, the Mudketeers took it along to Steve’s garden to set it up. Now, it really IS very easy to put together… for most people, anyway. On their second attempt - after reading the instructions this time (durgh!) - Emma and Tony finally had the assembled product in front of them.

This table garden (on a smaller scale of course) is a raised bed, greenhouse and irrigation system all in one. The irrigation system works via a hidden reservoir in the base of the trough. You simply fill this reservoir and then water is drawn up as plants require it. The Vigoroot fabric is quite unique as it ‘air-prunes’ the roots of plants, significantly improving the root system. In this way, plants can be sustained in a limited volume of compost. The kit also comes with a poly protection cover (with air vents). It’s perfect for growing a range of plants, including salad leaves, herbs and even strawberries. Now planting the strawberries was Steve’s idea so having watched Tony and Emma struggle, he will now be - quite literally - enjoying the fruits of their labour. There really no justice in this world is there?
