Gnome adds HDR configuration
HDR support answers long-standing requests.
Gnome 48’s feature freeze took place in February. Just before the deadline, G code was introduced to better support HDR (high dynamic range). The implementation includes introducing ‘Configure HDR via ApplyMonitors’ for Mutter, Gnome’s window manager. It replaces the previous experimental property for HDR. Users will be able to directly enable HDR support with BT.2100 colour space mode via a new option in the Gnome Control Center. This news has gone over well with the Linux community, which has been requesting better display capabilities for years.
