The verdict
Ubuntu spin-offs
he Linux Mint desktop doesn’t attempt to reinvent any wheels. Instead, it’s a clean and crisp T implementation of a desktop layout that most computer users will be immediately familiar with. The main way that Linux Mint diverges from standard Ubuntu is that it frees the user from the rigmarole of the periodic distribution upgrades required by Ubuntu itself, thanks to a rolling release system. It’s a desktop that we’d feel proud to install for a newcomer to Linux. The default applications are sensible and get the user off to a good start. As a popular distribution, the support networks are there if you need them, and the highly professional documentation is the icing on the cake.
