"A detail bag provides a huge selection of bufferbeam detail fittings"
The second batch of Accurascale’s Class 37s arrived in late June, in the form of split-headcode Class 37/0s. Each version sports the distinctive car-style headlamps installed by British Rail’s Scottish Region in the 1980s, for added safety on the remote Highland routes. Until recently, the idea of these ‘37s’ being produced in RTR format would have seemed far ‐fetched, but Accurascale’s models follow Bachmann’s headlamp-fitted Type 3s from last year.
Our review sample depicts a popular prototype, 37026 Shapfell which, despite moving to Sheffield’s Tinsley depot at the turn of the 1990s, retained its Scottish headlamp for a short time. Post-1980s Class 37/0s can be a bit of a minefield in terms of individual detail differences, but Accurascale’s model of 37026 is presented in Railfreight Distribution livery, as it appeared in 1991 (and early 1992), soon after overhaul at Doncaster Works.
