Parchment Craft  |  May 2017
We look at Art Deco inspired designs this month, a popular and very influential art movement in the 1920s and 1930s which represented glamour, luxury and exuberance, three words which spring to mind when you think of parchment craft! Popular contributor Lesley Shore has used her bold and fine grids to create striking Art Deco panels for a quick make card design which can be completed in a matter of hours and one is ideal for the grid enthusiast or beginner. Judith Maslen picks up the baton and uses her tools to create a fabulous bird themed design and the Art Deco theme can also be seen in cards by
Alison Yeates, Amanda Dray and Susan Moran.
Besides the Art Deco themed projects, there’s definitely something inside to whet your appetite. If you’re an experienced crafter, have a go at Sue Pritchard’s From the Archives piece. Her interpretation of this previously published design includes a grid worked image and lots of cutting, so plenty of patience is required. It’s certainly a labour of love and the hours Sue has put into the project are there to be seen.
If you’re new to the craft and still finding your feet, try your hand at the shaped card by Tina Cox (Page 9), her embossed and coloured card design uses the basic tools and features a design that can be easily completed by a newcomer.
