EXPLORE THE SECRET SOUTH DOWNS
The chalky undulations of the South Downs, Britain’s newest National Park meet the sea at Beachy Head in East Sussex. From here to the western extremes at Winchester in Hampshire, you can follow the South Downs Way for wonderful walks and gorgeous views; while hidden among the folds of the hills and valleys are some very special places to visit. Take the less-beaten track and you’ll find some wonderfully unexpected attractions. The view of the Seven Sisters, coming up from the coastguard cottages at Seaford Head, is glorious. From Jane Austen’s house to welcoming pubs and stunning vistas, the South Downs National Park is packed with hidden gems, say Claudia Dowell and Bryony Symes.
