The city of Cremona is recognised the world over as the home of violin making, and boasts around 170 lutherie workshops. The instruments crafted in these workshops are hand-made masterpieces produced in very small quantities, often to commission. They are so highly sought-after internationally that musicians and collectors come to Cremona from all over the world to find the perfect instrument.
Every year on the last weekend of September, Cremona hosts the premier European exhibition of musical instruments, Cremona Musica. This special event, organised by CremonaFiere, is growing year on year and is becoming one of the most important international exhibitions in the world. For three days (from 22 to 24 September this year), many Cremonese masters will move into the halls of the exhibition centre to showcase their instruments, often made especially for this event. Alongside them are the best international luthiers from around the world, as well as bow makers, accessories manufacturers, distributors and high-quality wood suppliers. It’s an environment that perfectly combines tradition and innovation.
