Trucking Magazine  |  No. 363 Plant Master
According to the recent Traffic Scorecard Report, Britain’s roadways now rank as the sixth most congested in Europe – and it’s hardly a surprise to learn London’s jam-packed routes are the worst for traffic, with congestion in the city rising most sharply. The report said on average, drivers in the UK spend 30 hours stuck in traffic each year – which is up one hour over 2012’s tally, and is worse than Italy, Spain and Portugal.
Which leads me to hope the government’s much-touted plans to bring
our worn-out road infrastructure up to scratch will bear fruit – and with
chancellor George Osborne pledging a further £200 million towards
pothole repair in the recent budget, fingers are crossed that we’ll soon
start seeing the benefit. For more budget news, head to page 6.
