Father John Ryder and his wife Brenda
After a challenging journey across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, the church steeple, sheltered between two picture-perfect cottages, is a welcome sight.
When an independant vegan society on the Isle of Wight wrote to the local clergy for support for a Veg4Lent campaign, asking people not to eat meat over the period, they only received three replies — two were hostile, but one embraced the idea. The acceptance was from Church of England vicar, Father John Ryder, from the village of Godshill, where he lives with his wife Brenda.
