I AM 43 AND FOUR MONTHS PREGNANT. I’M ALSO A LITTLE OVERWEIGHT, HAVE A VERY UGLY FAT BELLY AND WISH TO START RUNNING! CAN YOU GIVE ME ANY ADVICE?
Exercising when pregnant will be beneficial for you and your baby’s health. If you’re used to running, then it’s fine to run when pregnant. But if you’ve never run before, then start with fast walking. The key during pregnancy is to keep exercising at a level that feels comfortable. Ensure you don’t over exert yourself by making sure you can hold a conversation while you stride out. If you’re already comfortable at a fast walking pace, try running for 30-60 seconds at a time with walk breaks in between. The walking will still be doing you the world of good. What you call your ugly fat belly will soon be growing a beautiful baby, so focus on ensuring both of you are as healthy as possible.
