JASMINPARIS:QUEEN OFTHEBARKLEYS!
We could have written a whole issue on the achievement of this fabulous runner
Nearly every woman runner in the UK was tracking, and celebrating, the record-breaking effort by Jasmin Paris at the Barkley Marathons in March. This unique – and tortuous – ultra challenge in Tennessee involves runners taking on 100 miles of self-navigation through the toughest terrain. Add to that a leg-breaking elevation of approximately 54,000 feet. Paris made history as she crossed the finish line, with only 99 seconds to spare, becoming the first woman ever to finish the race.
Jasmin, a WR Warrior alumni – was one of only five runners who completed all five gruelling 20-mile loops this year. In fact, the race is so hard, only 20 people have finished it ever. Jasmin also won another tough ultra, the Spine Race, in 2019, while expressing milk for her 14-month-old daughter. Paris, a co-founder of the Green Runners, continues to show the world that she has no limits.
